Earlier this month it was announced that Sun King Brewery would begin redistributing their beer to the northern and southern parts of Indiana, at some point this year. We have now learned that Northern Indiana will receive their first shipment later this month.

In a statement released by Sun King Tuesday, it was announced they would once again be partnering with distributor Indiana Beverage. On March 25, Indiana Beverage and Sun King will host “Sun King Day” throughout 24 Northern Indiana counties at over 200-plus locations.

“We are extremely excited to have been selected by Sun King as a distribution partner,” said Jung Lee, brand manager at Indiana Beverage, in the press release. “We look forward to working with Sun King and its award-winning beer in northern Indiana and celebrating their statewide distribution.”

Those 24 counties will include: Adams, Allen, Benton, De Kalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jasper, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Lake, LaPorte, Marshall, Newton, Noble, Porter, Pulaski, Saint Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley. This will now mark the first time that Sun King’s beers are available throughout the entire state of Indiana, in the brewery’s history.

“Seven years ago, when we filled our first keg, we hoped to one day be able to deliver Sun King’s Fresh•Local•Beer to all of Indiana, and now that day has come,” said Clay Robinson, co-founder of Sun King Brewery, in the press release. “We are excited to work with Indiana Beverage in order to get our beer into the hands of the great people in northern Indiana, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our statewide distribution with them.”

Back in 2014, Sun King was forced to cut distribution ties with Indiana Beverage, as well as two other distributors, as they closed in on the state imposed 30,000 barrel production cap. They lobbied to have the cap raised and in May of 2015, Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed into law Senate Bill 297, raising the cap to 90,000 barrels. With the production cap raised, Sun King could once again begin distributing their beers throughout Indiana without any issues.
